(This is article was rejected for The Clarion’s final issue. I wrote this when graduation was near in my alma mater, Chevalier School.)
How much has CS improved these few years? Hmmm, long gap before your answer? El Subersivo has already showed his observations, criticisms etc. He has undoubtedly figured out what most aware students see. Of course, we are NOT BLIND not to see the TRUTH, we are NOT DEAF not to HEAR the rumors, and we are NOT MUTE not to SPEAK and tell what we really want to.
I am really bothered because of the consistent topic of the meetings of the employees and the PTA. “Small Philippines” is just an outlet of a battered student suffering from chains of several people forbidding him to come out. It’s really all about Press Freedom. With that, I salute the one who wrote “SuPRESSed Freedom” which was rejected due to its libelous (does it really have libelous statements for it to be rejected?) statements defending “Small Philippines” and our freedom to write.
This article is made not because of destruction but because of pity. I am very sorry for our school having the weaknesses we are so afraid to expose. But why? Is it because medals, diplomas, cards, and awards are going to be forfeited? We could always complain if that is done. They don’t entertain complaints? Then, DepEd knows how to action.
Going back, what’s with our school? Ok, Mr. Xaverian/Caballero who wrote “Luceat Lux (Let Your Light Shine)” (third issue) extended his grief of the quoted Quality Education. Caballeros, do you still feel it? Mr. Xaverian said that the great teachers have left CS and we are now in deep trouble. Let’s stop it there for a while.
I really hope Fr. Archie can make it with the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges, and Universities (PAASCU). This association gives accreditations to schools which provide the best facilities and quality education like St. Scholastica’s Academy (City of San Fernando) with Level 3. One step closer to schools with Level 4 like Ateneo and La Salle. What level could CS get?
Mind you, St. Scho has now swimming lessons, improved system, and a lot of renovated facilities. They attended the World Youth Day in Germany; went to Malaysia for an educational tour. I am not sure what is happening now in Don Bosco but I heard they are also planning to construct a pool. Parents cannot avoid comparison, you know… (Hey, look at SSA’s and DBA’s “updated” banners and info board.)
If there are bad systems or whatsoever in the school, please stop those. I really get irritated when I hear Si ganyan may % pala sa ganyan, Malaki pala ang % ni ganyan sa ganyan, Ang konti naman ng natanggap na % ni ganyan sa ganyan. You know yourselves. Please, try to be fair with everyone who does not get %.
I just wish one day, I would see Chevalier School standing with pride with those improved aspects in schooling. When could that happen?
