My Top 5 Favorite Bloggers 2008

Dictionary.com defines “blogger” as a person who keeps a web log (blog) or publishes an online diary. In my case, I define a blogger who articulates his thoughts without any premise or rule. I mean, anyone who has a social networking account can be a blogger no matter what kind of person he is.

After four months of being a “multiplier,” I tried blogging and I had the chance to read other people’s blogs and eventually became their contact. From December 31, 2006, here are the top 5 people whose blog entries are really catchy for me.

5. kooki.multiply.com (Gold Account), jrldizon.blogspot.com

Tied on the fifth place are Joeven Rex Dizon and Kristina Cassandra Concepcion.

The first time I knew that KC had a blog was when the showbiz news programs reported that she and her Dad met in the United States. After hearing that news, I began searching for her site and whala! Sa Multiply Blogs pala siya. Then, I started to read her entries that tell about her life in Paris.

She posts blog entries that are not just interesting, but so informative, as well. Often she writes in Tagalog, and the reason seems to be this: she wants her writing to be close to the hearts  of Filipino bloggers.

One last thing about KC, she takes nice and beautiful pictures!

Kuya Rex’s blog style, on the other hand, as I could interpret is somewhat pinpointing things around him.

Moreover, for a Computer Engineer to be good at compiling words into a sophisticated text is extraordinary. His most catchy blog entry for me was the “Universal” USB. I don’t know why. Maybe it was some kind of techie text for me (I’m so geek. Ha ha!).

Often, while reading his entries, I visualize him scolding me (Ngek!). Nonetheless, I thank him so much for his pieces of maturity advice.

4. crazycoyote.multiply.com

Maria Jean Avy Dimabuyu is a beautiful bookworm and photographer. One of our common qualities is being emotional…Uhm, but I’m more emotional than she is. Trivia: Ate Jean just loves taking pictures, and she once told me that she really wanted to buy that 45,000-peso camera!

I miss her so much. She now studies in a university almost 80 kilometers from UP Diliman. Moreso, I will always remember her quotable quotes: “Hoi Felipe yung buddy ko ah!” Yep, exaggerate your thoughts, ha ha!

This medical student’s blog entries strike me so much. I love what she writes about her unforgettable experiences and some urges that she really ought to put in black and white. My favorite entry of her as of now is Li(f)e.

3. undampedvibrations.multiply.com

Our former editor-in-chief Neil Stephen Lopez has six blog entries in his site, but hey! Numbers don’t matter because his writing can be simply described as “excellent.” I like his writing not because he was my high school classmate, but because he drives me eyes to read and read at a non-stop rate! I can easily relate to what he is referring to in his articles and that fact just makes me smile and laugh with no effort.

Neil, I like Kaysa Mag-Bibbo Hotdog entry. Reading it was a pleasure to my mind.

2. culturedbrat.blogspot.com

Okay Arvin, this is it. Arvin Kristopher Razon is a Organizational Communication student and a great debater at UP Manila. He excels in almost all social aspects of life. This is the man who truly loves blogging, and he told me that he posts in the blogosphere for him to have something to read in the future – if we rephrase, to see his self in the past.

Arvin is one of my first contacts here in Multiply. I don’t actually remember who invited whom. At first, I thought he was a Diliman student, and that thought kept me on asking Ruth if she knew him.

His posts entries that I pick lessons from (ngayon mo lang nalaman ‘to noh?). I like A Sheltered Life (dude, this is so inspiring), Predictions, Proof that Arvin is the Crush ng Bayan (because I am too ha ha!), Unlearning and Overinterpreting, and That Demon Barber in the City of Pines.

Last fact about him: he’s always overdriven by his emotions…like me. Hi ha ha hi hi (Joker laugh)!

1. francismagalona.multiply.com (Platinum Account)

Actually I don’t know what drives people like me to support and have compassion with a sick person whom they don’t support in the past. The reason is something that I can best describe as magic empathy. Now, I can feel this empathy towards Francis Magalona. This compassion softens my heart as I read his blog.

When I first heard that FM posted an entry about his current condition, I didn’t totally care to check out his site. It was just when I read the blogs of actors and actresses mentioned that we should help FM for a longer life that I opened his Multiply site.

In his post The Battle Has Begun, I had goose bumps when I read its first line. Below is an excerpt.

Today, September 25th, 2008 is the day I learned that Cancer isn’t all about death. It’s about LIFE. And today I celebrate and embrace that life.

“Today was a day of reckoning. I went to my doctor at her clinic, and from the smile on her face as she entered the room, I knew The Lord, Jesus Christ gave me a reprieve. I knew that someone, somewhere made a prayer, and continues to pray for me, my family and my recovery.

“And Jesus heard it.

“I am a sinner, and I will continue to sin, for I am just a man. But the Saviour has forgiven me and will continue to forgive me. This God who became man spilled His blood for me during my 36 days in the hospital. And even before that He suffered, and today He spilled some more of His blood, for me to get the good news.

“This is the only thing I can do, to write about His goodness, amidst this badness I am going thru.”

I also love his photos (obvious na siguro na I like photography dahil three of these bloggers love the same art). He just won third place in the Camera Club of the Philippines 2008 Annual Awards.

To the six of you, crop my token of appreciation.
