Potipot Island: The Little Secret Paradise

I want the coolest summer break!

That I had been demanding myself to have a rest after bumming on the second semester. I was waiting for an invitation and a bandwagon enticement to finally open my summer break. The Digital Signal Processing Laboratory (DSP) broke my silence of fervent anticipation. All of us decided that the perfect getaway was in a remote place called Potipot.

Potipot is drop of white sand island off the shore of Candelaria province in Zambales. Dubbed as the little secret paradise, it is surrounded by calm and crystal clear waters from its shore to the South China Sea. Within its small area, coconut trees give shade and cool the (more…)

Chinese Ipil Week Poster

It has been a month since my latest client asked me to work on their publication materials for Ipil Week 2010,  themed Clash of the Chinese Zodiacs. You see on the artwork, I incorporated the usual red and gold palettes that are seen during Chinese New Year. On the background, the black ink splatters symbolize the clash of the eight zodiacs surrounding the event title.

I designed this, together with nine others, the daily events of Ipil Week.

Thank you to my client for trusting me!

How to Draw the Number 20

Barely one hour left and I’ll be turning 20. Sad to say, I think I’m not yet read to accept that I’m going to be at the brink of teenage life…until the end of this entry.

Now, how do I draw this number on my sheet of journey called life?

1. My cousins who are above 20 years old have a lot of gimmicks in their lives. Some go bar hopping. Some travel alone. Some go out for a date with strangers. Should I push myself to the limits?

2. I’ve just heard the word CouchSurfing. I might dare myself to invite strangers online to accommodate them a sleeping place – my place. Promise, hospitality exchange won’t push me to extend my heir.

3. Apprehension must be erased from my dictionary. It has always been a hurdle towards my view of success.

4. I shall seek pieces of advice from older people who have proven a lot in their early twenties. I believe in redesigning the way they accomplished things and doing that based on my accord. Twenties is the time achievers got serious about their work.

5. Master in Science, maybe? Or go for Ph.D?

Any time sooner, I will no longer be a teenager. (more…)

Through the Looking 3D Glasses

alice_in_wonderland

It was just hours ago when I watched Disney’s Alice in Wonderland in IMAX 3D in SM North EDSA. For preparation, I read some text in wiki on what exactly the latest Tim Burton film is all about.

For the past couple of months, I’ve always chosen IMAX 3D than Dolby’s. The previous’ developers are genius. For them to produce sharp 3D motions on the big screen is really a milestone.

I don’t want to spoil much of the plot, but here’s what happened during the next two hours of being inside the theater.

9:30 PM – “This is 3D again, I hope it’s as good as Avatar.”

9:35 PM – “Oh, their wardrobes give me ideas on what I’ll be wearing on Nyny’s debut. I can’t wait.” (more…)

Unfathomable Sobbing Well

It was the usual morning ambiance as the my phone alarmed seven o’clock. The warmth of the knitted blanket still enveloped my shivering body, but my eyes already saw yellow light. I woke up from deep slumber, twitched, and stretched my torso.

Today is a big day.

I stood up, grabbed my towel, went to the bath room, and turned the knob of the shower. After fifteen minutes, I was done, and I found myself getting up in business attire. It was my third interview for serious internship program in a global company. I prepared much for this, and I trusted myself to do my best.

Scheduled at ten in the morning, the interview was as important as my life. Everything about my dream in the corporate world was at stake in the fifth stage of my application.

With all importance I give to my application, I still decided to attend my first class at eight. After all, academics will drive my way to earning a degree.

During class, my toes were already trembling.

Oh God, this is my interview day. I have to get there at ten o’clock.

I walked out from the class at nine, and gave my faith in the hands of the taxi driver who drove from EDSA-Ayala to G. Puyat Avenue. The HR personnel started to ring me.

“Can you make it at ten? Where are you now?” she asked.

“I’m still in Guadalupe. I guess I can make it at 10:05,” I answered.

It was a long way to Makati, but I never expected HEAVY TRAFFIC which was caused by the closing of roads in Camp Crame, EDSA. (more…)
