The Pautakan 2009 Poster

pautakan

SICAN: Gearing Towards Capampangan Excellence and Ingenuity is the theme of The Pautakan 2009. A perfect symbol of Capampangan excellence is the UP Aguman logo. As one of the most honored Pampango organizations in the north, UP Aguman is embodied with excellence in service to its people as depicted by the red swirls. The blocks represent the building blocks of ingenuity moving towards the background, a crystal blast.

It’s my third time to design the poster of the most prestigious quiz bee in Pampanga. Challenging myself to make a better output than the previous ones, I used new techniques to “outburst” elegance in every detail. Last two years, I revamped the plain black logo into something I called “black glass.” Now, I revamped it again using Adobe Photoshop CS4′s smart filters to give it a dazzling effect, making it look proud. The building blocks were made out of simple custom shapes transformed into rasters. I then applied what I recently learned in making web 2.0 logos, 3D see-through effects.

The poster is not yet official as UP Aguman arranges things with its sponsors.

Come October 26-28, 2009, The Pautakan will yet again bring out the best in every student in Pampanga.

Hello Andre! It’d be a pleasure to work on your advertisement. Right now, I plan to be a distant freelance worker. So, if it’s okay, I can’t get to attend meeting, rather, I would pour all hard work on the poster. Just text me the details of the event, and then I’ll send you an initial design.

the colors are vivid and you got rich ideas running behind.. coming Kelvin’s related blog.

i have been a fan of Photoshop and an avid user but i never got the chance to arrive at a piece like this one.

Dimaks, thanks for dropping by. Yeap, I like rich colors, but that actually depends on what type event you are working for and what concept forms in mind prior to the real designing.

    I’ve gone to Kelvin’s blog, he’s great. :)

Very cool design. 2D ang lahat ng objects then you edited it to be 3D?

    [Reply]

    John Carl Reply:

Yes, you can do that in photoshop. PSDtuts.com shares the best in making 3d designs. Pero ung 3D Studio Max, ok din sya para mahelp ka nya create ng objects that you can 3D-rotate in Photoshop CS4. :)

Migtaka ku rin ketang “in the north”, because it means something else. Oneng nyang ikit kung atin yang link, I thought, “Ah siguru siningit ne ing phrase for the tags..” Haha!

Dagulan me mu ing DepEd logo for more kabog and eku balu nung sasadyan mu at ating meaning ita, eya obvious ing text ning theme, balamu maooverpower la keng sleek background.

At ang geeky lang ng explanation! Hahaha! Aside from the meaning of the poster elements, may CS4 explanation pa. Aylavet too! =P
